There are a plethora of reasons to celebrate Donald Trump becoming a convicted felon: He earned it, for one thing, and there is the very real possibility that he’ll do time. Add to that the fact that legal experts now say his recent comments and social media posts may have violated a gag order imposed on him by Judge Juan Merchan, and that could add more fun to his legal difficulties.
And Trump never seems to learn. He was back to complaining on Newsmax that the jury in his New York trial worried him.
“Mother Teresa couldn’t get a fair trial here — I’ve said that. I never saw a glimmer of a smile from the jury.”
“This was a venue that was very unfair — a tiny fraction of the people are Republicans. And it’s very unfair, and then we had a judge who was very unfair,” he continued.
The former president, who was fairly and justly convicted of 34 counts of falsifying business records, once again attracted the attention of the fine folks at MeidasTouch. They shared a clip of his Newsmax interview on X and social media users lapped that up like hummingbirds on honeysuckle, ridiculing Trump for possibly violating his gag order and being locked up.

One person wondered:
“Why would a serious jury in a Court of Law exchange pleasantries in any form with the guy in the dock. The man is in a Court of Law expecting empathetic grins from the Jury?”

You have to wonder why Trump was even thinking of this. Didn’t he already have enough things to worry about? If members of the jury were smiling, this would indicate a serious disconnect on their part. This was a time for being serious; nothing about this case was frivolous.
For some Xers, Trump can’t be gagged soon enough.
“It’s gonna be great when he’s gagged through his appeal,” noted @ArtCandee.

Another user, sharing the clip, observed:
“Please tell me this violates his gag order. It would be so funny if he basically got to the finish line only for them to lock him up until July when he’s sentenced.”
And I’m definitely with this person, who wrote, “I’m on pins and needles wondering what Judge Merchan is going to do in the sentencing phase. All h— is probably going to break loose, but I’ll be here waiting for the fireworks.”

Not content with just bitching about the jury on Newsmax, Trump turned to his Truth Social platform, blowing right through the gag order that prohibits him from making public comments about the trial’s participants.
Legal analyst and former Manhattan chief assistant district attorney Karen Friedman Agnifilo, responding on MeidasTouch’s Legal AF podcast, noted: “I think, the judge is going to go rip s— because you cannot say anything like that about a juror.”
So one major chapter in this absurd book has ended. I’m eagerly awaiting the next one. I really do hope Judge Merchan does slap Trump with a lengthy sentence, with extra time added for good measure because of his near-continual habit of violating those gag orders and thinking he was above it all.
